Mon 14		Opening of Horningsea to Fen Ditton cycle route The opening will take place at the Horningsea end of the route on Monday 14 February at 16.30 and should take around twenty minutes. Please meet at Notcutts Garden Centre [location] at 4.15pm.
Fri 19		Cycling Fun Day 10-4pm, Chesterton Community College. Bring the family along to this free event to celebrate the improved route on Gilbert Road. Includes free bike MOT checks from 'Dust Off Your Bike', a mountain bike experience track, a variety of bikes and accessories to try and buy, and cycling info and goodies. Poster about the event.

Sat 26		Cam to Coast 2011 ride To mark the end of Cycling England, a variety of bike rides between Cambridge and Southend-on-Sea are planned. There is a choice of two ten mile rides, or the full 74 miles. The Cambridge rides will start from Jesus Green, Cambridge, where riders can register from 7.00am and set off anytime between 7.30am and 9.00am. The route will pass through the centre of Cambridge, Addenbrooke's, Saffron Walden and on through Essex to the cycling demonstration town of Southend-on-Sea. The ride will help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, and so there will be a participation fee of around £20 per rider. Full details, and to register for the event are on the British Heart Foundation website. Help promote the event by downloading and displaying this poster.

Tue 26		Rob King, Outspoken Delivery, speaking at Green Enterprise Community event Rob, co-founder of Cambridge's innovative local cycle courier firm will share their story. The business was founded in a love of challenge, working outdoors and meeting new people, plus wanting to make Cambridge a more pleasant and less polluted place. Their specialised bikes are now a frequent sight on Cambridge streets, delivering anything from legal documents to medical samples (even beer!). He will share some of the challenges they've faced and the creative ways they've developed the business. Full details.

Fri 29		Reach Fair Reconnaissance Ride This ride starts at 10:30am from in front of the Guildhall Cambridge. We shall follow the route of the Reach Fair ride which happens on 2nd May. Our mission: to check the route is clear and pick up any sharp objects that may cause punctures. We'll probably stop for a pub lunch or picnic.

Sat 11		Bike Fair on Parker's Piece The weekend will see this year's Bike Fair on Parker's Piece as part of the Town & Country Fair. As well as having a variety of bikes to try there will be lots of cycling information and freebies, and the new selection of cycle maps. Our stall will be there from 10-4 both days.

Sat 23		Campaign Stall at Orchard Park Family Fun Day Stall to be present on Orchard Park Sports Ground, on Ring Fort Road from 11 am to 5 pm to inform, attract new members to the Campaign and collect signatures for the Ring Fort Path Petition.
Sun 24		London to Cambridge Bike Ride Raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer by taking part in the annual London to Cambridge Bike Ride. The 60 mile route will see you cycle through stunning countryside from Lea Valley's Pickets Lock in North East London to Midsummer Common in Cambridge where you can celebrate your success with refreshments and live music. Tue 2		Monthly General Meeting - Cycling cultures research 8.00pm, Friends' Meeting House, Jesus Lane (with tea and coffee from 7.30pm, and a chance to chat, and for us to introduce ourselves to new members). Katrina Jungnickel and Rachel Aldred have been conducting research into 'cycling cultures' at the University of East London. They will talk about their research and seek feedback.
Wed 3		Petition for "Ring Fort Path at Orchard Park" handover The petition to build Ring Fort Path has received over 400 signatures. Cambridge Cycling Campaign and residents of Orchard Park will be handing over the petition to Cllr Ian Bates, Cabinet Member for Growth and Planning at Shire Hall Cambridge, meeting on Wednesday the 3rd of August at 10:45 am. Cllr Ian Bates will receive the petition at 11 am. Including an opportunity for a press photograph, we should be finished by 11:15 am.

Sun 7		Opening of the Busway Cycleway A bike ride to mark the opening of the cycleway alongside the busway. Meet 10:30am outside Cambridge railway station.

Sat 13		Cambridge Single-speed and Fixed Ride (Not organised by the Campaign.) An informal event to get together fixed and single-speed riders, men and women, from the Cambridge area for a social ride (not race training!) with a chance to talk about bikes and get to know one another. Start 10am at Newmarket Road Park and Ride under the giant bike sculpture in the second car park. Distance 20-25 miles at round about 12mph on cycle paths, quiet roads and part of the Lodes Way. The last couple of miles is urban, to get to the finish at the Mill Pond, Cambridge where you can sit with the bike and have a drink.

Tue 6		Presentation of Ring Fort Path petition to Cabinet The Cabinet meeting starts at 10 a.m. Please try to come to Kreis Viersen (KV) room, Shire Hall, Castle Hill, Cambridge, CB3 0AP at 9.40 am to secure a seat in the public seating area. Petitions are taken early on in the meeting after minutes, formal declarations from Members. See more details on the Ring Fort Path petition.
Tue 6		Monthly General Meeting - speaker: Richard Preston 8.00pm, Friends' Meeting House, Jesus Lane (with tea and coffee from 7.30pm, and a chance to chat, and for us to introduce ourselves to new members). This month's speaker will be Richard Preston, Head of Road Safety and Parking (and seconded on Network Management) at Cambridgeshire County Council, who will talk about the Localism Agenda and what it means for County highway proposals, and safety-related issues such as cycle training.

Sun 02		Cambridge to Norwich Bike Ride A great early autumn ride starting from Cambridge's Midsummer Common and heading east through a landscape of fenland and patchwork fields, finishing in the grounds of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, in aid of Norwich Cots for Tots. Route: 77 miles of gentle hills flattening out as it nears Norwich. See full details.

This month's meeting will have, as its main topic, a discussion on the branding and name of the campaign. Member Simon Nuttall will introduce the discussion.

Sun 9		'Welcome to Cambridge' bike ride We've organised a short Sunday ride primarily to introduce new visitors to Cambridge to Cycling in the City. All are welcome, however. The ride will start with a simple free bike check. We shall visit the two main city centre cycle parks and then ride to the railway station and Addenbrooke's along the new busway cycleway track. We'll return to the Guidlhall via Hills Road, and the tranquil Coe Fen cycle route. Starting from in front of the Guildhall at 12 noon.
